Brookhaven burglary suspects crash, 1 arrested

A Brookhaven police chase ended with a bang on July 22 when fleeing burglary suspects crashed their getaway car into an Ashford Park home.

Just before 6 a.m. on Tuesday, a 911 caller reported three people actively breaking into storage units at an apartment complex in the 3400 block of Blair Circle.

According to a report from the Brookahven Police Department, officers arrived on the scene as the suspects’ vehicle, a black SUV, was exiting the apartment complex’s parking deck.

The driver of the vehicle refused to stop, which led to officers pursuing the car down Johnson Ferry Road to Peachtree Road. The chase continued onto Redding Road, where the SUV crashed into a home at the intersection of Redding Road and Redding Way.

There was minor damage to the house and no injuries, BPD said. DeKalb County Fire Department responded to the scene and checked the residence for structural damage.

All three occupants of the vehicle fled the scene on foot, and officers apprehended the driver.  The other suspects have not yet been identified, BPD said.
