Philly’s Cinco de Mayo celebrations are officially back! From now throughout Monday’s holiday, multiple Mexican restaurants, bars and venues are gearing up to host live music, block parties and offer special deals and discounts.
Bartenders are making margaritas, popping cans of Corona and letting the tequila flow. DJs will be mixing Latin music beats and salsa vibes. Plus, multiple venues are opening up patios and shutting down city blocks, serving delicious tacos, cemitas and more.

El Chingon and Bluebird Distilling
South Philly’s El Chingon is throwing its third annual Cinco de Mayo Block Party this weekend with Bluebird Distilling. The restaurant will be holding an outdoor celebration on Sunday, from noon to 8 p.m. Drinks will be flowing, there will be a live DJ, and you can order yummy bites throughout the day. Plus, Bluebird is providing a pop-up with different agave spirits for sale. Delicioso!

Cuba Libre
Cuba Libre is shaking things up this Cinco de Mayo with a “Margarita Takeover!” In lieu of their typical Mojito Monday specials, you can grab pitchers of classic and passion fruit margaritas for $29.75 — a more than 50% discount from their usual pricing. The fiesta-worthy deals are available all day at the restaurant bar and dining room.

Cantina la Martina is providing fiesta vibes this Monday. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., there is a special lunch buffet for $20 a person. In a large round glass dish, bartenders are pouring in a bright blue tequila mix topped with a Coronarita. In addition to the boozy mixture, Sueño will be holding an outdoor fiesta on Sansom Street on Saturday with tacos, drinks, live music and “endless vibes.” The party starts at noon.

Rosa Mexicano is one of the few celebrations on this list that goes beyond the 5th all the way to Taco Tuesday. For those looking for a more varied celebration featuring a range of restaurants, Bar Crawl Nation is hosting Tacos & Margs Crawls this Saturday and Sunday. The parties kick off at JJ Bootleggers and feature bars and venues around Old City, including Lucha Cartel, Kick Axe Throwing, Las Bugambilias and Brasil’s Nightclub. Outside of Yanaga Kappo Izakaya, different Asian restaurants are coming together and shutting down Fairmount Avenue from 5 to 10 p.m. — Mawn, Neighborhood Ramen, Zama and Nihonbashi Philly. The latter is a rare pop-up from the famous Philly-obsessed Tokyo chefs, Kosuke and Tomomi Chujo, visiting for one week only and serving up new sukiyaki and teriyaki chicken egg cheesesteaks. Their first pop-up last Wednesday was so successful it sold out with a line spanning multiple blocks. While the event isn’t quite Mexican, Neighborhood Ramen will be creating a special Cinco de Mayo-inspired mazeman just for the occasion.

Tamalex Bar & Grill
Tamalex Bar & Grill is honoring Cinco de Mayo all weekend, starting with a live festival on South Street this Saturday. It will be a celebration filled with tequila, mezcalitas, chips and guac, tacos and cemitas. On Sunday, the fiesta continues with a block party and live band. The festivities are for all ages. Both days begin at noon and run until 7 p.m.

LMNO wants to make this Cinco unforgettable and are “going all in” with patio parties, DJ sets and specials on food and drink today through Monday. The main event takes place Saturday. The restaurant is taking over Front and Palmer with the Fishtown Music & Arts Festival. There will be outdoor seating, big energy, music and satellite bars from Red Bull and Tequila Mi Campo. Friday and Sunday walk-ins are welcome. Saturday requires a ticket and reservations are recommended on May 5.
